Case® and Winkler Knives® have never shied away from enthusiastic support of America’s military and first responders.

Case has a storied history of supporting U.S. soldiers on the front lines for decades, while Winkler’s roots are in providing knives and axes to Special Operations units and other elite fighting forces since 2004.

The founder of Winkler Knives, Daniel Winkler, is a Master Bladesmith who has worked with Case as a custom knife collaborator for the American Heroes Series since 2016.

Bologna honorably served as a Navy SEAL for 22 years, earning many awards and decorations. He served in Naval Special Warfare (NSW) and was deployed to support both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He executed hundreds of special operations missions in high-threat territory.

Romesha, a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and elite Cavalry team member, led a valiant effort to take back a strategic outpost that was overrun by Afghan soldiers in the fall of 2009. Eight of Romesha’s team members were killed in an in the firefight. Romesha received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery.

Lamb, a retired Sergeant Major, spent over 21 years in the United States Army, with over 15 of that in 1st SFOD-D Delta Force. He has participated in many conflicts including Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq, and Somalia. He is the Founder and President of Viking Tactics and author of the book Leadership in the Shadows.

Each of these men are highly decorated U.S. Military Veterans, including a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient in Romesha. What else do these men have in common? They all have years of outdoor hunting and trekking experience, in addition to their knowledge of the tactical needs in knives and tools. These men drew on all of this knowledge when co-designing one or more of these American Heroes Series pieces.

Co-designed by retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major Kyle Lamb, the Case® x Winkler Knives® Lamb Hunter features robust saber taper ground Spear point blade made from tough 800CrV2 steel.

The deeply gimped finger grip and cheil, along with the tough canvas laminate grip helps provide ultimate in-hand stability even in wet conditions.

The knife comes complete with a custom durable Kydex sheath making it an excellent utilitarian tool for your next hunting adventure.

Case x Winkler Recurve


Co-designed by U.S. Navy SEAL veteran Harry Bologna, the Case® x Winkler Knives® Recurve Utility No. 6 features a skeletonized, full tang Recurve blade composed of 1/4" 80CrV2 carbon steel.

The versatile Recurve blade offers a longer cutting edge for making long, deeper cuts. The S-curved edge makes it easy to change the cutting angle while the blade is in use. The heavy gauge steel makes chopping and batoning a breeze.

The form-fitted leather sheath houses a slim Zippo® lighter with the American Heroes logo, so you always have a way to start a fire when you need it.

Case x Winkler Hambone


Co-designed by Medal of Honor recipient Clint Romesha, the Hambone blade is ideal for any outdoorsman. The upswept 80CrV2 steel blade belly allows for longer cuts, ideal for skinning, while the sharp point is useful for puncturing and digging. An emergency glass breaker is incorporated into the end of the handle.

Eight stars are engraved along the knife’s spine to memorialize the brave warriors from Clint’s elite Cavalry team who lost their lives during Operation Enduring Freedom.

This fixed blade design is the result of a decades-long career in knife making by Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler and the extensive experiences of Holland, a retired U.S. Army Special Operator and Navy SEAL.

This high-performance field knife is lightweight, well balanced and built for dependability. The flat ground, full tapered and distal tapered Trailing Point blade is made from tough 80CrV2 steel, known for its enduring lateral strength, superior edge retention and ease of sharpening.

Case x Winkler Pack Axe


Also designed by Kevin Holland, the Pack Axe cuts through the challenges of outdoor survival, with a hefty head and an extremely sharp edge. The blunt end can be used as a mallet for pounding stakes or nails, tapping rocky terrain and taking on small scale demolition.

Durable canvas laminate grips and a tapered, skeletonized handle promote better balance for more accurate in-hand strikes that can cut deep.

Expert Tip: A single, 3/8 inch thick piece of 80CRV2 steel resists the cracks and splinters you get with traditional, wooden-handled axes.

Daniel Winkler

Daniel Winkler is an award-winning custom knife maker based in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. His early recognition came from hand-forging Early American-influenced knives and axes. The historical styling of his work led to Winkler being commissioned to create cutlery for principal characters in the award winning 1992 film, The Last of the Mohicans. In more recent years he has had the honor of working with members of elite units within the U.S. Military and Allied Forces around the world, a development which prompted the establishment of the Winkler Knives product line that continues today.
